Vitae to Lead on Careers in Academia in FORSEE – Shaping the future of EURAXESS and Strengthening Support for Researchers Across Europe
Vitae are delighted to have been selected to lead the Careers in Academia work package within FORSEE (FORward-looking EURAXESS SErvices for Europe), a major European initiative focused on strengthening support for researchers across Europe. As a recognised leader in researcher development and research careers, Vitae will work with partners from across the EURAXESS network to help make academic career pathways more transparent, inclusive and sustainable. This role reflects the strength of UK expertise in researcher career development, including our experience in supporting institutions, influencing policy and developing practical tools and frameworks that help researchers thrive. Through FORSEE, we will bring that expertise to a European audience while learning from partners across the continent. Our activities will include establishing a European Community of Practice, developing guidance and resources for institutions, supporting improvements to researchers’ working conditions, creating career development tools and mentoring support, and sharing evidence and insights to help researchers navigate academic careers with confidence. We are proud to showcase UK leadership in this area and excited to contribute to a stronger, more connected European research ecosystem.
Help shape the future of R&D careers: take part in the OECD-EU Research and Development Careers Survey 2026
The OECD and the EU have launched the OECD-EU Research and Development Careers Survey 2026, an international survey for all personnel working in research and development. The survey takes around ten minutes to complete and is designed to gather insights into how R&D work and careers are evolving.
By taking part, R&D professionals can help ensure that policy decisions affecting research careers are informed by real experiences from across the community. The survey aims to strengthen the evidence base available to policymakers and the wider research and innovation sector.
The survey forms part of the Research and Innovation Careers Observatory initiative, which brings together internationally comparable data, statistics and policy-relevant evidence on the careers that drive science, technology and innovation. The initiative covers more than 50 countries.
Take part in the survey.

Join our upcoming EURAXESS researcher sessions
International research careers bring exciting opportunities, but they can also raise questions about funding, building collaborations and developing your career across borders. Our online sessions are designed for internationally mobile researchers, offering practical advice, opportunities to connect with other researchers and an introduction to the support available through EURAXESS UK.
Upcoming sessions:
- 22 September 2026, 10–11am: Drop-in session – A short introduction to EURAXESS UK, followed by an informal discussion where you can ask questions, share experiences of researcher mobility and connect with other internationally mobile researchers. If we cannot help or do not know the answer, we will follow up and help you find the right people to speak to.
- 22 September 2026, 12–1pm – Finding funding and developing competitive grant applications – Learn how to use EURAXESS funding and jobs tools to identify opportunities, hear practical tips for developing competitive grant applications and share experiences with fellow researchers.
