UK Leads Europe in 2025 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship Awards
The latest results from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowships underline the scale and competitiveness of the programme. A total of 17,066 applications were submitted, with 1,610 fellowships awarded. This represents a success rate of approximately 9.6%, reflecting the highly selective nature of the scheme.
The United Kingdom secured 347 fellowships, the highest number of any participating country. This strong performance demonstrates the quality and international competitiveness of UK research institutions in attracting and supporting outstanding postdoctoral researchers.
With €404.3 million in funding committed, the programme continues to play an important role in supporting researcher mobility, advanced training and international collaboration. The UK’s results show both the strength of its research base and its continued engagement in highly competitive European funding programmes.
MSCA 2025 Seal of Excellence
The 2025 call under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions has also resulted in a significant number of researchers being awarded the MSCA Seal of Excellence. In a new development following the conclusion of the 2025 Postdoctoral Fellowships competition, 9,847 applicants have received the Seal of Excellence after achieving evaluation scores of at least 85 percent but not securing funding due to budget limitations.
The Seal of Excellence recognises the high quality and competitiveness of these applications following the rigorous Horizon Europe evaluation process. It is designed to support researchers in seeking alternative funding from national, regional or institutional sources, building on the strength of their positively assessed proposals. The scale of the awards underlines both the exceptional demand for MSCA funding and the consistently high standard of applications submitted in the 2025 call.
