From semi-finals to final: celebrating this year’s 3MT® researchers
Six researchers. Three minutes each. One live-streamed final. We are delighted to announce the semi-finalists and finalists in the Vitae Three Minute Thesis Competition 2026.
This year’s semi-finalists rose to the challenge of sharing the significance of their research clearly, creatively and compellingly with a non-specialist audience. Congratulations to every researcher who reached this stage.

Following the semi-finals, we are excited to announce that six researchers have now been selected to take their presentations to the Vitae 3MT® final, live streamed on Thursday 1 October during the online element of the Vitae International Researcher Development Conference.
This year’s finalists are:
- Peter Akor, Glasgow Caledonian University
- Rachel Bernasconi, University of Surrey
- Jonathan Chan, University of Oxford
- Yuri Jang, King’s College London
- Akma Nazar, University of Westminster
- Helen Norris, University of Reading
Each finalist will have just three minutes and one slide to bring their research to life for a non-specialist audience.
Watch live on 1 October to discover emerging research from across the sector, support the finalists and take part in the audience voting period ahead of the results broadcast on 5 October.
